Fisher: Offseason Changes Are Inevitable
By Billy Byler January 11, 2004

With the 2003-04 season complete, the Titans begin preparations for the inevitable roster changes to be made in the offseason.

''There will be change,'' Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher said. ''Change is inevitable every offseason now. There will be some change that will obviously take place in the next six weeks or so.''

March 2nd marks the date in which many NFL players become free agents. For Tennessee, several Titans players will become free agents including wide receivers Justin McCareins and Drew Bennett, tight end Erron Kinney, and defensive end Jevon Kearse.

''We've got some very difficult decisions to come to by March 2nd,'' Fisher said. ''We will begin that process this week.''

Tennessee will also lose at least two current players to retirement this offseason. Placekicker Gary Anderson and backup quarterback Neil O'Donnell have both publically announced plans to retire after the 2003-04 season.

Starting tight end Frank Wycheck has also expressed a possibility of retiring this offseason but has not publically announced a decision.

In the immediate future, Fisher said the team's switch into offseason mode comes as a difficult transition.

''They're not ready to hear about the offseason program,'' Fisher said. ''Nor am I ready to talk about the offseason program right now.''
