Patriots Going For 13th Straight Win
By Jeff Cohen January 6, 2004

The New England Patriots will host the Tennessee Titans Saturday night at Gillette Stadium. The Divisional Playoff meeting will mark the third time these two teams have played in the last thirteen months.

The Patriots, fresh off a bye week and riding a twelve game winning streak, will look to make Tennessee lucky number thirteen and win a trip to the AFC Championship Game.

Saturday night's game will be in Foxboro at Gillette Stadium. In the 2003-04 season, the Patriots have a perfect 8-0 record at home.

New England's hard hitting safety Rodney Harrison said playing on New England's home field is a big advantage.

''Well, I think whenever your playing at your own back yard you tend to play a little harder,'' Harrison said. ''I think just being at home, not having to travel, being in front of our fans and our family, it gives you a little more extra incentive. I think you have to take advantage of your home field advantage. I think its big with the crowd, with the fans, with the familiarity at home. I think it really helps us out.''

Adding to the Patriots home field advantage is the time off New England had with a first place bye. While Tennessee was preparing and battling against Baltimore, New England rested and enjoyed a week off.

Harrison said the bye week has the team energized and gives them a slight edge.

''It helps out tremendously. It gave us a chance to get away from the grind of twenty, twenty-one straight weeks of football, ''Harrison said. ''It gave us a chance to spend time with our family and just to rest. Now guys have come back. They're flying around. They seem really energized. They're really paying attention from a mental stand point. I think it really helped us out.''
