Colts Win, Titans Headed To New England
By Larry Stone January 4, 2004

The Titans will get a second chance at the New England Patriots Saturday night in Foxboro.

With the Colts 41-10 blowout of the Broncos Sunday, the Titans will travel to Foxboro for the divisional playoff round. Indianapolis, the number three seed, will face second-seeded Kansas City Sunday afternoon.

Tennessee fell to New England 38-30 October 5, as the Patriots rushed for 161 yards. A Ty Law interception ended a Titans comeback attempt.

''Well, the first time around, we were with out Peter (Sirmon),'' Head Coach Jeff Fisher said. ''We had Keith (Bulluck) and Rocky (Boiman) in different positions, and we lost Samari (Rolle) on the fourth play of the game. We’re healthy now on defense, and that should help us significantly.''

''They had some injuries as well, but they ran the ball very well against us, which was embarrassing when we looked at the tape.''

Though the game will kickoff Saturday night, the players had Sunday off. Fisher said that should be the rest they will need.

''The guys are very excited,'' Fisher said. ''I’m not concerned about being in a situation where this win took everything out of them. As Eddie said ‘this win was for the old guys’. The young guys need to put it in perspective and go on. The old guys can enjoy it because they can put it in perspective but this was one of those things that meant a lot to us from years past.''

The early weather forecast for Foxboro Saturday calls for snow showers, and temperatures in the 20s.

''I’m sure it will be snowing and it’ll be an 8:15 eastern game Saturday night,'' Fisher said. ''Conditions will be perfect.''
