McNair Honored to Share MVP
By Matt Kuehn January 2, 2004

Steve McNair woke up in Nashville on Friday focused on the Baltimore Ravens and when the team landed in Baltimore Friday afternoon he was still focused on the Raven but he was also the NFL's co-MVP.

McNair shares the Joe F. Carr trophy with Colts quarterback Peyton Manning. The tie marks the third time in league history two players have received the award.

''I don't mind sharing it with Peyton,'' said McNair, ''Sharing it with a great guy personally and also on the football field like Peyton Manning is great. Any time you can affiliate your name with a great individual like a Peyton Manning, you don’t mind sharing sometimes. That’s how things go. I accept that and we just have to uphold what this MVP stands for.''

McNair also credited his teammates for his successes not only this year but for his entire career.

'' This is something not only I share personally, but I share with my teammates, '' said McNair. ''Those guys are the heroes here. I’m just receiving this individual award.''

McNair becomes the first Titans player to win the award and the second in the franchises history. Houston Oiler runningback Earl Campbell took home the honor in 1979.
