Titans Radio and Edamerica will honor Macon County High School senior Elizabeth Yokley with the Edamerica Scholar Athlete Award Saturday when the Titans take on the Ravens.
The weekly award is designed to recognize an outstanding male or female student athlete who excels in the classroom and in the community. A panel consisting of Titans Radio partners from across the mid south selected Yokley for the award for her accomplishments in volleyball and softball, as well as her academic achievements and community service.
Yokley was named to the All-District Team and All-Tournament Team last season as a junior and was voted Most Valuable Player by her volleyball teammates. Yokley became the first volleyball athlete at Macon County to garner the All-District award as a junior.
Yokley not only excels in volleyball, but also is a member of the Student Government Association and the Interact Club. Both school-led groups assist in the improvement of the surrounding community. Yokley also furthers her high school experience with several honors classes and has managed to maintained a 3.70 GPA into her senior year.
Yokley will be honored Saturday during Titans Radio’s Halftime Report as Mike Keith, Pat Ryan and Larry Stone present live coverage of the Titans and Ravens. Coverage begins at 2:00pm central on 102.1 WLCT FM, the Titans Radio flagship station in Lafayette. In addition to receiving a plaque for the award, Rogers becomes eligible for a $1,000 scholarship to be awarded at the end of the season.
This is the fourth season Titans Radio has recognized outstanding high school students during each game. Edamerica joins the network this year as sponsor of the program.
