Veteran kicker Gary Anderson said he will retire following the Titans playoff run.
''Sunday, we made a family decision,'' Anderson said Tuesday night on Titans Radio's Verizon Wireless Jeff Fisher Show. ''Sunday was a very emotional day for me because that was really my last regular season football game.''
''It was nice to have my family there. I was trying to keep it all together and do my job, and at the same time take it all in.''
The 44-year old Anderson thought his career had ended last season when his time with the Vikings ended. That changed, however, when Titans kicker Joe Nedney went down in the opening game of the season.
''The thing that really made it work was Jeff,'' Anderson said. ''Jeff, who has kids similar age to mine, has backed up everything he told me on that first phone call when I was fly-fishing in Colorado. In fact, he's done more.''
Chasing Gary Anderson, the NFL's leading scorer, is 43-year old Morten Andersen who said he would like to kick until he's 50 years old.
''I have tremendous health,'' the Titans kicker said. ''My family is more important to me. I'm not interested in records. It's time.''
''They're not going to get me off the stream next year,'' Anderson said.
