Titans Quarterback Billy Volek joined Titans Radio for an exclusive interview from his home in Nashville, on Sunday. Volek discussed his injury, his recovery, and his future with the Titans.
Volek suffered a lacerated spleen in the 3rd quarter of last Sunday's game 28-26 win over Buffalo. Volek said the injury didn't bother him during the game, but afterwards was a different story.
''After the adrenaline wore off, and the emotions went down, I knew something wasn't going right,''.
Volek expressed his disappointment in being done for the season, and especially missing Sunday's game against Houston.
''I thought coming up this Sunday I'd have a chance to go and play against the Texans with Steve being a little beat up, and playing against my old college teammate Daivd Carr,''.
Volek said he's been touched by the out pouring of support from the Titans fans.
''They say Titans fans are number one in the NFL, and I totally agree with them,'' Volek said. ''It's been very heart-warming for myself, and my family,''.
''People just stopping by the house and all the flowers, and fruit baskets,'' Volek said. ''It's very overwhelming,''.
Volek said his condition improving, so much so, he's already getting a little restless.
''They let me go Thursday and I'm trying to lay low, but things are going better, I'm feeling better,'' Volek said. ''I tried to go down to the facility on Friday, but my wife called the doctor and he said 'what are you doing, you got to stay at home', but things are going a lot better,''.
Volek is a free agent at the end of season, and with his performance against the Bills, has garnered a lot of attention around the league.
Speculation arose around the league on Monday that Volek would be on the top of many team's list for next season, but Volek says he right where he wants to be.
''I want to be a Titan, I want to stay here, I love this community, I love the fans, and I really enjoy the organization,''.
''I think it's going to come down to Floyd (Reese) and his decision, but I want to be a Titan, definitely,''.
