Despite sporting a 5-9 record and already mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, Houston Texans Head Coach Dom Capers said his team's final two games are important.
''When you get to this time of the year and you're out of the playoffs, the way you handle it and the way you play speaks a lot about the character of your team,'' Capers said. ''To me it's an evaluation process of all our players and for our team.''
In the final two weeks of the season, the Texans will play host to two of the best teams in the AFC in the Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts.
Capers said the remaining schedule may be the team's biggest challenge of the season.
''We're playing the two best teams in our division the next two weeks,'' Capers said. ''They've set the standard and they're the teams that we eventually have to compete with.''
Texans runningback Domanick Davis has found success in the Houston run game this season. With 881 yards rushing in his rookie year with two games to go, Davis said now is the time to evaluate his individual play and the play of his teammates.
''You can really evaluate a team now because it's been a long season,'' Davis said. ''I need 119 [yards] to make a thousand, so I'm hoping to knock that out this week.''
