Quarterback Billy Volek's season has ended after he suffered a lacerated spleen in the Titans 28-26 win over Buffalo Sunday.
''It's one of those things that he would miss eight weeks at best, and that would encompass the rest of the season,'' Titans Director Of Public Relations Spokesman Robbie Bohren told ESPN.Com.
The Tennessean reports doctors discovered the injury following tests late Monday. Volek, who had been dealing with the flu for several days, complained of abdominal pain throughout the day. Doctors admitted Volek to Baptist Hospital last night, where he is expected to remain in intensive care for the next two days.
The Titans would need to find another backup and Neil O'Donnell would seem to be the likely choice to replace Volek. O'Donnell has visited with several teams since being released before the regular season.
