Two Point Titan Win Comes With Minor Injuries
By Billy Byler December 15, 2003

Minor injuries were all that came out of Sunday's 28-26 win over the Buffalo Bills in Nashville.

Backup quarterback Billy Volek, starting for the injured Steve McNair, took a pounding in the winning effort.

Volek finished the game so roughed up, he experienced dizziness in the shower after the game and was unable to speak to media.

Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher said Volek's condition improved overnight.

''Billy Volek was better this morning,'' Fisher said. ''Billy has a bruised collar bone and some bruised ribs. That should not prohibit him from playing. I don't know how he's going to feel earlier in the week as far as practice is concerned, but he is feeling better.''

Tight end Shad Meier left the game in the first half with a knee injury. Meier was taken to the locker room early for precautionary x-rays.

Fisher said the news on the backup tight end was promising.

''Shad Meier's knee checked out pretty good,'' Fisher said. 'He's got a sprain but does not have cartilage damage.''

Wide receiver Jake Schifino also left the game early, Fisher said Schifino's status is uncertain.

''Jake Schifino has a turf toe condition which is a concern and also has a knee bruise,'' Fisher said. ''He's going to be hobbled. He probably won't practice and potentially may not be able to play this weekend.''

Two special teams players, Eddie Berlin and Scott McGarrahan also received minor injuries.

''Eddie Berlin has concussion symptoms. We're going to have to watch him the next couple of days,'' Fisher said. ''Scott McGarrahan's knee is a little swollen, but he'll be OK.''

Defensively, safety Lance Shulters suffered from a hip injury.

''You saw Lance on the sideline with the hip,'' Fisher said. ''He's going to be very sore for the next few days as well.''
