Here's how the Titans finished the 2004 season as compared with the rest of the NFL.
Offense
Overall, the Titans ended the season ranked 11th in total offense, gaining 342.9 yards per game. The rushing attack finished 14th (116.9 yards) and the passing game ended the season 10th (226 yards).
Chris Brown's turf toe injury dropped the Titans from one of the AFC's more productive rushing attacks, but the Titans remained a top five offense in rushing yards per attempt (4.5 yards).
The Titans third down efficiency dropped some eight points this season to 34.1 percent, 15th in the AFC. It is the lowest percentage for the franchise since 1994 as Tennessee has consistently been above 40 percent under Jeff Fisher.
Inside the 20, the Titans scored on 36 of its 45 possessions, with 25 touchdowns (55.6%).
Turnovers put the Titans in a hole as they recorded 32 giveaways, about five over the league average. The Titans finished the season minus one in turnover ratio.
Field position suffered this season as the Titans struggled for consistency in the return game. The Titans' 4.3 yard punt return average ranked last in the AFC, the 19.7 kickoff return average ranked next to last.
The Titans started drives on average at the 27.2 yard line, four yards behind the AFC leader Buffalo.
Defense
Battered by injuries, the Titans defense finished the season 27th overall, giving up 357.8 yards per game. Of that total, 119.8 came on the ground (18th in the NFL) -- the most given up by the franchise since 1994. Only once under Jeff Fisher has the defense finished the season surrendering 100 yards or more rushing.
The Titans pass defense finished 26th, giving up 237 yards per game. Much of that yardage came in the final four games of 2004 when the Titans, without cornerback Samari Rolle, gave up more than 328 yards passing.
The Titans defense finished the season 13th in the AFC in total yards given up, 15th in yards per play and points per game given up.
The Titans red zone defense finished the season 13th in the AFC giving up 31 touchdowns in 54 possessions. Teams scored on all but seven trips inside the 20.
