Players Leave Camp, Looking Toward Healthier Future
By Brad Willis January 3, 2005

The Titans players packed up their personal belongings Monday morning and left Baptist Sports Park for the final time this season.

Head Coach Jeff Fisher met with the team before sending them on their way, following Sunday's win over Detroit.

''This year, I feel like it's my team,'' Linebacker Keith Bulluck said. ''It hurts when you're out there playing your butt off and you just can't seem to get a W in the W column.''

The TItans finished 5-11, the worst record since the 1994 Oilers went 2-14.

''It's going to leave a pretty nasty taste in everyone's mouth,'' Safety Tank Williams said. ''I think it will be pivotal going into next year.''

Williams, along with wide receiver Tyrone Calico, linebacker Peter Sirmon and guard Jacob Bell will be busy rehabbing knee injuries this off-season. A number of other Titans will keep the training room busy.

''I'm going to be a staple around here,'' Williams said. ''Injuries are just one of those things that happens,'' Ever so often, you get a rash of them like we've had. It's just one of those things that you have to work through.''

Even those Titans not injured expect to spend a lot of time in Nashville during the off-season program.

''It's good to be around your teammates and train with them,'' Bulluck said. ''Yes, you can go away and train with different trainers but that's not the point. The point is to work in an environment with your teammates when it's not the off-season.''

For now, rest and putting 2004 behind them. Rookie Ben Troupe said he believes the injuries will make the team stronger mentally going into 2005.

''You got play with the guys that are out there,'' Troupe said. ''You can't really go into a season hoping everyone is going to stay healthy. Next season, we've got to come out and just play with whatever level we've got out there.''
