Reporters seeking to interview Titans players for the final time in the 2004 season were met with a well thought out answer from one Titans star in the lockerroom after Tennessee's 24-19 win over Detroit.
''I'm not saying anything,'' Titans 45 year old place kicker Gary Anderson said.
Retiring from football after tallying Hall-of-Fame-like numbers over 21 seasons in the NFL, Anderson returned for the 2003 season after Titans kicker Joe Nedney went down with a season ending knee injury.
After Tennessee's 2003 season, Anderson retired again, but returned to a similar situation for the Titans this season.
Now with the 2004 season at an end, the retirement question arises yet again. This time, Anderson said he knows how to handle any retirement issues.
''I'm not saying anything because I said that last year and that never happened," a smiling Anderson said.
The older and wiser Anderson said he just wanted to take his career one season at a time and he was glad to see this season end with a win.
''It was great to finally get a victory,'' Anderson said. ''Obviously with the frustration of this season, it was nice at least to end on a positive note for everybody.''
As for the upcoming decision of a final retirement, Anderson said he knew exactly what was in his immediate future.
''It will be good to get home with Kay and the boys,'' Anderson said with a smile.
