Titans quarterback Steve McNair underwent successful surgery to repair his sternum on Tuesday, according to the team.
“We are pleased that the surgery went as expected,” Titans head coach Jeff Fisher said in a statement. “As an organization and medical staff, we feel confident that this procedure will stabilize his sternum and eliminate the symptoms he experienced this season.”
Dr. Burton Elrod, Dr. John Austin and Dr. David DeBoer performed McNair’s surgery Tuesday morning.
McNair will remain in the hospital overnight and will begin his rehabilitation next week.
McNair's recovery is expected to last four to six weeks.
