Bell Suffers Torn ACL
Staff Report December 26, 2004

Titans rookie guard Jacob Bell, a 14-game starter at left guard for the Titans this season, has a torn ACL in his right knee and will have surgery as soon as the swelling in his knee dissipates.

Tennessee head coach Jeff Fisher made the announcement at his news conference on Sunday afternoon.

Fisher added that another disappointing aspect to Bell ’s injury is that the Titans had planned to play him at right tackle on Sunday in the season finale against the Detroit Lions. With regular right tackle Fred Miller nursing a sore ankle and knee, the Titans had hoped that Bell could give Miller a rest while getting a look at tackle for the future.

Now, Bell will be forced to battle through an off-season of rehab and will be fortunate if he’s physically ready to begin training camp in late July.

Bell was selected in 2004 draft with a pick the Tennessee obtained from the Houston Texans. (5 th round, 138 th overall).

He played both guard and tackle for the Miami of Ohio Redhawks, making a total of 38 starts.

When veteran Zach Piller tore his biceps muscle in the season opener at Miami on September 11, Bell stepped and has been the starter at left guard ever since.
