Hardin County High Senior Wins Titans Scholar Award

Titans Radio and Edamerica will honor Hardin County High senior Julianne Williams with the Edamerica Scholar Athlete Award Saturday when the Titans take on the Broncos.

This weekly award is designed to award the stars and leaders of the future. It is awarded to an outstanding male or female high school student in the mid south region. The recipient must exemplify leadership in the classroom, in their community and on the field.

A panel consisting of Titans Radio partners from across the mid south selected Williams for her accomplishments in volleyball and softball, as well as her outstanding academic achievements.

''Julianne is the epitome of what a student-athlete should represent,'' coach Kim Patterson said. ''She is a great example in the community and classroom, as well as on the playing field.''

Williams is a member of the volleyball and softball teams at Hardin County High. She plays setter and hitter for the volleyball team. Williams earned All-District honors the last two years. Williams plays pitcher and shortstop on the school's softball team. She earned All-District honors in softball each year.

An honor student, the senior is also active in school. She is a member of the Student Council and is a Girls State Alternate. Williams is also a member of the school's radio station, Tiger Broadcasting. Williams is also very active in her community. She is involved in her church youth group.

Williams will be honored this Saturday during Titans Radio's Halftime Report with Mike Keith, Pat Ryan and Larry Stone as they present live coverage of the Titans and Broncos. Coverage begins at 6:30 pm central on 93.5 FM WKWX, the Titans Radio partner in Savannah. Williams will also be featured on the Titans Radio website, www.titansradio.com

Williams will receive a plaque for the award and will also be eligible for a $1000 scholarship to be awarded at the end of the season.

This is the fifth season Titans Radio has recognized outstanding high school students during each game.
