Broncos Coming In Angry
By Michael Wooden December 21, 2004

The Denver Broncos felt good about their chances to make the playoffs this year. But their recent losing skid of only 3 wins in 8 games after starting 5-1 has left them fighting for their playoff lives.

With Denver having everything to lose against the Titans, after falling to the Chiefs 45-17 last week, Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher expects Denver to come into the Coliseum with a vengeance.

"They're going to be a little cranky when they come in," Fisher said. "The last couple of weeks we've played opponents that are basically out of the playoffs and Denver certainly has a chance still. They need to win out and they're trying to keep their playoff hopes alive, so I think at kickoff, they're not going to be concerned with what happened last week, rather they're going to be concerned about finding a way to win to keep their playoff hopes alive."

As for the Titans, there is no accepting that the spoiler role can be motivation for a game. "I don't know how much motivation the spoiler plays into it," Fisher said. "We're playing a good football team, a well coached team in all three areas so it's going to take our absolute best effort against them."

Coach Fisher also commented on the Broncos ability to change their formations and blocking each week.

"We're going to have to play hard, tough, smart football against a team that is very good at changing from week-to-week. The things that you see on tape are not going to be the things that we’ve seen, so we're going to have to be focused and able to adjust after the first couple of series, especially on defense."

The Broncos game is also a special game for offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger. Heimerdinger coached with the Broncos before being recruited to Tennessee.

"(Coach Heimerdinger) spent a lot of time there," Fisher said. "This is a challenge for coach Heimerdinger because of what they do on defense."
