Titans Monday Night Football Routine A Bit Different
By Billy Byler December 13, 2004

When the Titans take the stage against the Kansas City Chiefs this week, the match up will be the second Monday Night Football game the Titans have been apart of this season.

Although the game differs with a night time start instead of the typical Sunday afternoon game, many Titans players say the big difference comes in simply waiting all day long to play.

''That's the worst part about Monday night, just sitting around the hotel all day,'' Titans defensive lineman Carlos Hall said. ''It's rough but you've got to stay mentally focused the whole day.''

In a typical week in the NFL most Titans get an early morning wake up call, then, after a few pregame rituals, hit the gridiron at noon.

On Monday Night Football games, the routine changes a bit.

''It's definitely a lot of laying around,'' receiver Drew Bennett said. ''You get to the stadium a little earlier, you get used to catching underneath the lights, that kind of thing. We just getting ready to play no matter what time it is.''

On the road, the Chiefs will most likely be hanging around the hotel all day while the Titans have the luxury of a home game. Either way, Titans safety Lamont Thompson said what you do during the day can have a major effect on what happens at night.

''You definitely have to use that time wisely,'' Thompson said. ''You've got to get off your feet and relax and you know, like I said, go back and forth as far as looking over things... and then just get away from it so you don't put all the stress on it.''
