Fisher Says Team Remains Upbeat
By Ben George December 10, 2004

Although the Titans have struggled with injuries while compiling a 4-8 record, Head Coach Jeff Fisher said his players have not lost their competitive spirit.

Fisher said he was impressed with the positive attitude and work ethic his team has continued to show as they get ready for Monday night's game against Kansas City.

''They've been really good,'' Fisher said. ''One thing that happens sometimes when all of a sudden there's no opportunity for the postseason is they start walking in 30 seconds late or they're a little late for a treatment. We have had none of that.

''Everybody has been working hard, on time, doing the extra little things -- the lifting, the stretching -- and they're having fun on the practice field.''

Although most people point to the Titans' record as unfamiliar territory for the team, it is also the amount of injuries that no one is used to dealing with. Fisher said that players are having to work at different positions due to the lack of numbers available.

''If you look around, because of numbers, we've got linebackers playing tight end and offensive linemen playing defensive line,'' Fisher said. ''Everybody is putting forth the effort.''

With the lack of healthy bodies in the defensive secondary, the question is what will Fisher do in an emergency.

''I can't tip that competitive hat,'' Fisher said. ''There will probably be an offensive player (move to defense), but we won't say who it is.''

Tennessee takes the field at 8:00 p.m. central on Monday Night Football against the Chiefs.
