Winborn Will Mainly Play On Special Teams
Jamie Winborn has been asked to be prepared to play defense if needed on Friday against San Diego, but the linebacker's most immediate impact will come on special teams.
Winborn was signed to the active roster Monday after veterans Keith Bulluck and David Thornton were placed on injured reserve because of injuries.
''Jamie is an experienced, veteran linebacker who has played in a lot of different systems,'' Titans head coach Jeff Fisher said. ''He's working hard to grasp our scheme. I think you'll see him playing special teams, but as far as playing linebacker on the field defensively, I think it will be tough.''
''It may take him another week or so.''
Fisher said linebackers Gerald McRath and Colin Allred would start on the outside beside middle linebacker Stephen Tulloch. Stanford Keglar would also be available if needed, with Winborn as the fourth option.
''I've clearly been pleased with the play of McRath, and Colin Allred has a good understanding of our defense. They'll be just fine.''
