Shoe Drive This Sunday

The Titans will host a Shoe Drive to benefit Soles4Souls when they take on the Houston Texans on Sunday, Dec. 2 at LP Field.

The Titans have asked fans to bring 'gently worn' shoes to the game and drop them in the seven locations outside each gate of LP Field beginning at 10 a.m. through kick-off.

It is estimated that Americans have 1.5 billion pairs of unworn shoes lying in their closets. The charity can use each and every one of these pairs to make a tangible difference in someone's life.

Wayne Elsey, the Founder and CEO of Soles4Souls™ Inc., is accustomed to seeing 32,000 pairs of shoes come in and out of the charity’s warehouses each week, but the recent natural disasters in Peru, the US Midwest, Mexico have left a giant void in the Soles4Souls buildings.

''We can use the shoes taking up space in your closet to change the world one pair at a time,'' Elsey said. ''We need our partners in North America and specifically our home town of Nashville to 'STEP UP' and get behind our call for action. It’s one of the most simple yet profound gifts you can make, because it will greatly improve someone’s life in the most difficult of times.''

This drive is part of the Titans annual stadium drive collections with their final stadium drive concluding on Dec. 9th as they ask fans to bring an unwrapped toy to benefit the US Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.

Community Quarterback Nominations Due

The Tennessee Titans kick-off their annual search for Tennessee’s top volunteers through the eighth annual Titans Community Quarterback Award program. The Titans are asking all non-profit organizations throughout Tennessee to nominate their top volunteers.

The Titans Community Quarterback Award program is a statewide competition, which recognizes outstanding volunteers in the state of Tennessee, ages 13 years old and up. Once the winners are selected, Titans Owner K.S. “Bud” Adams, Jr. will distribute $24,000 in grants from the Tennessee Titans Foundation to the organizations where the winners serve, raising the total of grants distributed in this program to $164,000 since the program began in 2000.

All residents of Tennessee, age 13 and over who provide volunteer services for nonprofit 501(c)(3) or 509 organizations within the state of Tennessee are eligible for nomination. Nominees may serve only in a volunteer capacity and may not receive any compensation – monetary or otherwise – for their efforts. Individuals may nominate themselves or be nominated by others. Tennessee non-profits are encouraged to submit nominations recognizing their top volunteers. Nomination forms are available now by logging on to www.titansonline.com where you may download the nomination form.

All completed hard-copy nomination forms must be mailed to Titans Community Quarterback Award Nomination, 460 Great Circle Road, Nashville, TN 37228 and postmarked no later than December 1, 2007.
