The Tennessee Titans placed cornerback Malcolm Butler on injured reserve on Tuesday, two days after he suffered a left wrist injury.Butler suffered a broken wrist and may undergo surgery, according to multiple reports. The team has not revealed the diagnosis but coach Mike Vrabel said on Monday that it was possible Butler would miss the rest of the season.Butler was hurt late in the first half in Sunday’s loss to Carolina when his wrist was landed on by Panthers wideout Curtis Samuel, who had elevated for a catch and landed inbounds for a touchdown.Butler was quickly ruled out, and he was seen afterward with his wrist in a soft cast and arm in a sling.Butler, 29, had two interceptions and 30 tackles in nine games (all starts) this season, his second in Tennessee. Overall, he has 13 interceptions and 310 tackles in 84 games (68 starts) with the New England Patriots (2014-17) and Titans.Tennessee signed Butler to a five-year, $61.25 million contract in free agency in March of 2018. During his time with the Patriots, he made clinching a Super Bowl XLIX victory with a goal-line interception in the final seconds against the Seattle Seahawks and went to the Pro Bowl after the 2015 season.
