Pat Ryan Knows Well
Titans Radio color analyst Pat Ryan knows how Rob Johnson feels about being thrust into the starting quarterback role.
The same thing happened to Ryan in 1986, when coach Joe Walton replaced starter Ken O'Brien with the former UT star for a wild card game at Kansas City.
'Walton came to me on Wednesday and told me,' Ryan told The Tennessean. 'I hadn't played in weeks and I was real
surprised. We were struggling, but the last thing I thought they would do was make a quarterback change.'
The Jets won that game 35-15, as Ryan threw for three touchdowns.
Pat Ryan talks more about that 1986 game as well as dealing with a change at quarterback Saturday during Titans Countdown.
