Cowboys Visit Nashville in 2000
The Dallas Cowboys will make their first trip to Nashville next season as one of the Titans' four NFC East opponents.
With the end to the regular season Sunday, the NFL's 31 teams now know who they will play in 2000. The NFL develops the next season's schedule based on where a team finished the year before.
Each team plays its division rivals twice as well as four teams from the NFC, based on a divisional rotation. The AFC Central plays the NFC East in 2000. The top two AFC Central teams get one game each against the AFC East and West, while the other four teams play a total of three games.
The Titans finished second in the AFC Central this season.
The Titans' 2000 home opponents will include:
* The Five AFC Central Teams (Jacksonville, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Cleveland)
* Dallas (First trip to Tennessee. Tennessee beat the Cowboys in their 1997 Thanksgiving Day meeting 27-14. The two franchises met annually during the preseason when the Titans were in Houston)
* NY Giants (The Titans beat the Giants 10-6 in a 1997 game at Memphis)
* Kansas City (The Titans fell to the Chiefs at Arrowhead during the pre-season. The last regular season game came in 1996)
The Titans' road games in 2000 include:
* The five AFC Central teams (Tennessee will play at the new Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati)
* Washington (This will be Titans' first trip to the new Fed Ex Park. Tennessee beat the Redskins in 1997 at Memphis)
* Philadelphia (Tennessee had earlier announced a pre-season game in 2000 at Veterans Stadium. The last regular season matchup came in 1994)
* Buffalo (This will be a rematch of the 1999 Wild Card Game. Tennessee beat the Bills in Memphis in 1997)
Dates and times will not be set until April.
