Mason Named AFC Central Special Teamer of Week
After becoming the first member of the Titans franchise in five years to return a punt for a touchdown, Derrick Mason received honors Tuesday as the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Mason's 65-yard run, the first touchdown return of his NFL career, marked the franchise's first return since December 11, 1994, when Ernest Givens ran back 78 yards against Seattle.
'I know the guys were excited because we've been waiting on this,' Mason said Tuesday night during the GTE Wireless Jeff Fisher Show. 'We've been getting closer each week.'
Mason joins Al Del Greco in winning the Special Teams Award in '99.
