What They're Saying: The National Perspective on Titans/Ravens

Here's a collection of thoughts on Sunday's Ravens/Titans game from the national media:

'You can have the St. Louis Rams and their warp-speed offense; the Ravens and Titans played Sunday the way football's founding fathers meant the game to be played. They blocked punts, blocked field goals, returned an interception for a touchdown and demonstrated genuine animosity while perceiving themselves as gladiators.' Michael Wilbon, The Washington Post

'It's lucky for Billick, of course, that Baltimore seems to play its best football with some part of its anatomy stuck out too far: Be it chest, nose, or hind quarters. After a week filled with trash talking by some Ravens, Baltimore didn't forget to make it stick game day. As a wise man once said -- and no, it wasn't Joe Namath -- it ain't bragging if you back it up.' Don Banks, CNNSI

'Prior to Sunday's game, these brilliant Titans marketers kept replaying Ravens coach Brian Billick's locker room speech from last week about how they were going to beat the Titans in Adelphia. The intent was to rile the 68,527 Titans fans who were extinguishing their barbecues and heading toward their seats. All it did was anger an already angry Ravens team. If these Titans marketing people had any sensibility, they would have seen Ravens defensive linemen wore Army camouflage outfits. Each replay only made the Ravens more ready for war.' John Clayton, ESPN
