Despite running for over
90 yards, Eddie George was
not able to put his team
over the hump and lead
them to victory.
And So A Seasons Ends, Titans Lose To Ravens 24-10

The Titans started out in a blaze of glory, controlling the ball for over seven minutes on their first drive and getting the ball into the endzone with ease.

But unfortunatly for the Titans and their fans that was the end of the highlight reel as the Baltimore Ravens beat the Titans 24-10 advancing to the AFC Championship.

The Baltimore Ravens defense tightened after the first drive and held the Titans red zone offense out of commission. The offense was able to manage 317 total yards on the number 2 defense in the NFL. All-Pro Eddie George led the squad with 91 yards rushing on 27 attempts.

For the defense it was business as usual, holding the Ravens to only ten offensive points and 134 total yards.

'Our defense played as well as I've seen them play,' head coach Jeff Fisher said. 'The positive is this defense will be back.'

The only Ravens scores besides a one yard touchdown run by Jamal Lewis came off a blocked field goal return of 90 yards by Anthony Mitchell and a 50 yard interception return by Ray Lewis.

It was a bad and a good day to be on the special teams squad. Specialist Chris Coleman blocked two punts which put the offense in scoring position. But the Titans were only able to convert them into 3 points.

Field goals are what hurt the Titans the most. Kicker Al Del Greco was a mere 1-4, missing from 45, 37 and the 31 yarder that was blocked and returned for a TD.

'On the first one I just didn't hit it,' Del Greco said. 'The second one he (Keith Washington) was only about five yards away so he did get a little.'

With the 2000-2001 season now in the books the focus turns to the draft and the free agency market to find the right fit to take the Titans on another Super Bowl run in 2001.

As for the Ravens, they will travel to Oakland next week for the AFC Championship and the right to advance to Tampa.
