As the Titans returned to the practice field Thursday for the first of three days of bye-week work, quarterback Steve McNair and offensive lineman Bruce Matthews watched from the sidelines. Both players were wearing protective boots, McNair as he nursed a sore ankle and Matthews as he dealt with turf toe. Head coach Jeff Fisher said McNair would not practice Friday or Saturday.
Doctors also performed surgery Wednesday on linebacker Greg Favors installing a pin in his dislocated thumb.
