Titans Vs. The League: Final Regular Season Stats
Here's how the Titans ranked against the rest of the league in the final regular season statistics:
Offense: The Titans finished 8th in the AFC in total offense averaging 130.3 yards per game rushing (4th best in the AFC) and 204.1 yards passing.
In the NFL, the Titans offense ranked 14th (7th rushing and 16th passing)
Leading Rusher: Eddie George ranked 2nd in the AFC behind Edgerin James with 403 carries for 1509 yards and 14 touchdowns. George added 453 yards in receiving yards to finish the regular season with 1962 yards of total yards from scrimmage. George also finished behind James with 96 points in the scoring-non kickers category. George totalled 101 first downs, second best in the AFC.
Quarterback: Steve McNair finished 7th among AFC quarterbacks with an 83.2 rating. He completed 62.6 of his pases (3rd best in the conference) with 15 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. McNair was 4th in the AFC on 3rd down with a 92.6 passer rating.
Receiving: Derrick Mason and Frank Wycheck ranked 6th and 7th among receivers on 3rd down tallyhing 25 and 24 receptions respecitvely.
Return Game: Derrick Mason ranked 1st in the AFC in kickoff returns with 42 returns for 1132 yards or a 27-yard average. Mason finished 3rd in punt returns. The Titans topped the AFC with an average drive start on kickoffs of 33.2.
Defense: The Titans held teams to an average of 238.4 yards per game, best in the AFC (86.9 yards rushing and 151.5 yards passing). The team also finished first in the conference holding teams to just 215 first downs, 30.8% conversion rate on 3rd down and just 1 of 12 on 4th down.
