Head Coach Jeff Fisher and his staff will be working to prepare for the playoffs. |
Titans Must Prepare For Three Possible Opponents
The only disadvantage in getting a first-round playoff bye is not knowing who to prepare for in the divisional playoff game. For now, all the Titans can do is sit back and watch this weekend’s games.
Three teams could find themselves in Nashville on January 6 or 7. The Colts could ensure themselves of a trip to Tennessee with a win over Miami on Saturday. If the Dolphins prevail, the winner of Sunday’s Baltimore/Denver game will visit Adelphia Coliseum.
“What we’ll do as a staff is we will prepare for all three potential opponents this coming week and we may work a little bit against each one of them on the practice field each day,” Fisher said. “We have no other choice than to do that. [The opponent is] either determined or it narrows down to two on Saturday.”
Fisher said each team poses specific threats that the Titans will need to work on stopping.
“You need to handle Baltimore’s blitz package… Denver does some unique things up front on their [defensive] line where they stand up their tackles and they have some unique things in coverage. You need to take a hard look at Denver’s running game and then of course Indy’s play-action passing game.”
The date and time of Tennessee’s divisional playoff game will be announced later this week.
