Titans 'Bye' Time For Injured Players
With a 31-0 win over Dallas on Monday night, the Titans ensured themselves of three things: the franchise’s first division crown since 1993, home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs, and a much-needed bye on Wild Card Weekend.
The bye week will allow a Titans team who has played on 14 consecutive weekends to rest up for their divisional playoff game set for January 6 or 7. For some injured Titans, the bye could not have come at a better time.
Quarterback Steve McNair has a sore and swollen ankle. Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher said McNair will wear a boot and get some rest during the off week. Defensive End Kenny Holmes has a swollen knee, but came out of Monday night’s performance without doing any further damage to his ailing shoulder.
Linebacker Greg Favors may have to undergo surgery to repair a dislocated thumb. He will wear a cast throughout the postseason.
Finally, safety Denard Walker has a minor hip flexor/groin strain and is not expected to miss much practice time.
