MVP Talk At Thursday's Practice
When Titans started their campaign for the 2000 season they had only one goal, the Super Bowl
In the quest for the second trip in as many years, the team has accomplished several individual tasks. Wide receiver Derrick Mason broke the total yards record and coach Jeff Fisher now has the most wins of any coach in franchise's 40 year history.
Now, with the season running down the talk of who will be the league's Most Valuable Player is heating up.
Such names as Minnesota quarterback Duante Culpepper and Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb are circulating, but the word around Nashville is all Eddie George.
'We have a number of MVP's on our team,' Fisher said. 'I think what you have to say is where would your team be without the candidate and I think that is why he is being considered.'
George is currently number two in the AFC in rushing yards and also holds second place in number of touchdowns. The number one spot is held by Colts' running back Edgerrin James.
'I guess you have had some success if your name is being mentioned for that,' George said. 'It is a honor just to be mentioned.'
If George wins the award he will be the only player to do so in the organization since Earl Campbell was given the honor in 1980 who is the only player in the team's history to be named most valuable player.
