Titans Radio Release Januay 6, 2002
The Tennessee Titans Radio Network recognized Florence, Alabama’s WQLT, Q-107 and Franklin’s WAKM, AM 950 as its co-radio partners of the year for 2001, Sunday at the annual Titans Radio Partner Day.
The network annually honors one of its radio partners for their work on- and off-the-air in supporting the Tennessee Titans and Titans Radio.
WQLT joined the Titans Radio Network prior to the 2000 season. Before WQLT ever aired a Titans broadcast, they recorded the second largest stop on the 2000 Titans Caravan, and the largest stop this season. In addition, WQLT has hosted numerous “turn down the sound” parties for Titans listeners and aired special Titans pre-game programming from Nashville prior to games.
“Their signal really coats all of northwestern Alabama, southern Tennessee and northeastern Mississippi,” said Titans Radio Executive Producer Larry Stone. “Nick Martin, Jimmy Oliver and the entire WQLT staff have been a tremendous asset to our network and Titans fans across the Mid-South.'
Franklin’s WAKM is also finishing its second season as a radio partner. WAKM has hosted two outstanding Caravan stops, has aired weekly interviews with the Titans Radio broadcast team, and offered promotional support in-season and out.
“Tom Lawrence called Mike Keith and myself three days after we returned from the Super Bowl and said he wanted to be a part of Titans Radio,' said Stone. 'He did more than just carry the games and we won't forget that.'
WQLT-Florence and WAKM-Franklin join 1998 honoree WGOW-Chattanooga, 1999 honorees WKXD-Cookeville and WSON-Henderson and 2000 honorees WFWL-Camden and WOKI-Knoxville as winners of the Partner of The Year Award. The stations are included on a plaque hanging in the Titans Radio Booth at Adelphia Coliseum.
Titans Radio is made up of over 65 stations across the country, making it the fourth largest radio network in the National Football League. Titans Radio is a joint venture of Citadel Communications and Capitol Radio Networks.
