Titans, Browns Both Playing To Build Momentum Going Into Next Season
Staff Report December 26, 2001

In a season that has seen both the Titans and the Cleveland Browns on the outside looking in at the playoffs, the teams seem to be going in opposite directions.

After beginning the season at 0-3, the Titans seem to be playing their best football of the season in improving their record to 7-7.

The same cannot be said for the Browns, after beginning their season at 3-1 the Browns have since lost seven of ten and have a 6-8 record going into Sunday.

Since both teams have been eliminated from the playoff hunt, the glaring question may be why is it so important to finish the season strong?

'The Biggest thing is that it leaves a good taste in your mouth going into next season,' Cleveland quarterback Tim Couch said.

The Browns need to win their final two games to complete their first .500 season since coming back into the league in 1999.

'Finishing strong gives you a little momentum going into the next season,' Couch said.

Meanwhile, the Titans have won two straight and are at .500 for the first time this season.

If the Titans can win their final two games against Cleveland and Cincinnati they will have completed their 3rd consecutive winning season.

They also would end with a four game winning streak and seemingly a great deal of momentum going into next season.
