Eddie George Will Be Back To

With Skip Hicks Down
Hicks Likely Out With Hamstring
Staff Report December 23, 2001

A hamstring injury will likely limit running back Skip Hicks as the Titans prepare for the final two games of the season.

'Skip is going to be out for some time, as it looks now,' head coach Jeff Fisher said at his Sunday press conference. 'We're going to finish the season with Eddie and he's going to practice and prepare hard the next couple of weeks and probably get most of the reps now with Skip being down.'

The Titans may also be without offensive lineman Bruce Matthews who suffered a groin injury in Saturday night's win over Oakland.

'Bruce's play in all likelihood is going to taper off a bit over the next two weeks because of the groin situation and the fact that we need to continue to play some guys,' Fisher said. 'He'll be questionable, but he's always come back from injury quicker than most players, so I'm sure that he'll be ready to play this week. If not, then it's certainly more severe than what we're able to tell now.'

Fisher said Steve McNair came out of the game with a stiff back, but he hoped the quarterback would be able to practice when the team resumes work Wednesday.

'This was as concerned as I was all year as far as his condition relating to play,' Fisher said. 'He was sore. He was very stiff. We saw what we needed to see well before warm-ups on the field. He loosened up and he played. Hopefully we'll get the back situation behind him so he can practice a little bit this week for us.'
