McNair's status for Oakland is unknown.
McNair Sits Out Thursday Practice, Status For Oakland Uncertain
By David Doan December 20, 2001

Once again Titans quarterback Steve McNair sat out practice Thursday at Baptist Sports Park.

McNair has been bothered by a bad back, and has not practiced at all this week.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher did not know whether McNair would be able to play Saturday against Oakland.

'We are concerned because by now we had hoped his back would have responded by now,' Fisher said.

'It is low back spasms and stiffness,' Fisher said. 'The fact that we have a long plane ride does not help.'

Fisher said the injury came from a combination of different things and it began to give him problems in the latter part of last week.

In other injury news, offensive lineman Zach Piller's broken hand is still holding him back from action.

'Zach would have to play in a cast,' Fisher said. 'We want Zach to get healed up so he can try and finish up the year for us.'
