Staff Report December 19, 2001 Tightness in his back kept quarterback Steve McNair out of practice for a second straight day Wednesday. 'Steve's a little better,' Head coach Jeff Fisher said after practice. 'We're hoping to get him on the field tomorrow (Thursday) to do some things. He's simply stiff.' McNair's back tightened up during Sunday's Green Bay win. Fisher said earlier this week the tightness resulted from some of the hits he took early in the game.
Center Kevin Long (knee) and cornerback DeRon Jenkins both practiced Wednesday. Fisher said cornerback Donald Mitchell appears to be close to returning to the practice field.
