Salave'a Could Be Out Rest Of The Season
By Dustin Murray December 17, 2001

Titans defensive lineman Joe Salave'a damaged ligaments and tendons in his ankle Sunday and will likely miss the rest of the season.

Head coach Jeff Fisher said at his weekly press conference Monday afternoon doctors were performing an MRI on the ankle.

'It looks that he potentially will need some reconstructive surgery and will be out the remainder of the season,' Fisher said.

Fisher said the Titans might need to make a move on the defensive line having already lost Robaire Smith to a thumb injury last week.

'We potentially could make a move, but we're looking at our options right now as far as finding some one else to help us up front on the defensive line,' Fisher said.

Besides Salave'a, Fisher said the Titans appear to have come away from Sunday's win with only some minor bumps and bruises.

'Steve McNair is quite sore in the lower back, nothings wrong he's just very sore,' Fisher said. 'We hope to get him back on the field by Wednesday's practice.'

'DeRon Jenkins had a concussion, did not return to the game, but it looks as if he knee survived the plays that he did play. We're optimistic that he'll be much better this week from that standpoint.'

'Donald Mitchell just really couldn't plant and drive during the warmups, so we kept him out of Sunday's game.'

'Daryl Porter made it through without any problems with exception that he busted open both his scope holes from his surgery and they had to close them up during the half. He made it through the rest of the game fine,' Fisher said.
