Titans Help Raise 23,000 Needed Toys
Staff Report December 17, 2001
Titans fans gave a record donation in the US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots drive at Adelphia Coliseum prior to the game. Fans showed their holiday spirit as they donated an estimated 23,000 toys and $4,300 to the Toys for Tots program.
According to the US Marine Corps Reserve, area toy collections have been down this year, so the generous hearts of fans that gave will truly make a difference to over 10,000 children in the Middle Tennessee area this holiday. This marks the largest single collection in the USMCR Toys for Tots program's history in the local area.
'This year's Titans drive was our saving grace for the kids of Middle Tennessee. It will allow us to fill all of the remaining orders requested,' said Rob Kohls, President of the USMCR Toys for Tots program in Middle Tennessee.
'If it had not been for the Tennessee Titans and the fans support of the USMCR Toys For Tots Program this year we were concerned with meeting the needs of the community.'
Including the 1999 and 2000 season, Sunday's stadium drive brings the three year total of toys collected at Titans games to approximately 45,000 toys donated to the USMCR Toys for Tots program.
Fans who donated a toy received a patriotic flavored Titans poster featuring Titans wide receivers, tight ends, T-Rac and members of the US Marine Corps Reserve.
