Smith To Undergo Season-Ending Surgery
Staff Report December 13, 2001
Doctors will perform surgery Friday on defensive end Robaire Smith's left thumb, ending his season.
Smith visited a specialist Wednesday who gave the surgery recommendation.
The Titans enter the final four games of the season without an experienced backup at defensive end. John Thornton, converted from tackle, was placed on injured reserve earlier this season.
''That means the linebackers may be more involved in the pass rush — Greg Favors and Keith Bulluck — and we'll put we'll put Henry [Ford] in the rotation at end,'' Head Coach Jeff Fisher said Thursday.
