Titans Versus The NFL: Week 13 Statistics
Staff Report December 11, 2001

With a 5-7 overall record, the Titans continue to improve upon their offfensive statistics while dropping defensively.

Offensively, the Titans are now ranked at a season-high 6th in the AFC (12th in the NFL), averaging almost 324 yards per game. The Titans are 12th running the ball (106.6) and 7th passing (235.4). They have completed 39.8 percent of their third-down conversions, good for sixth best in the AFC (also a season high).

The Titans stand at a -3 turnover ratio.

The defensive side of the ball (especially in the secondary) has prevented Tennessee from reaching the .500 mark in 2001. The Titans are next to last in the AFC in total defense (25th in the NFL), giving up an average of 344.7 yards per game. They are an impressive third against the run, but dead last against the pass.

Individually, quarterback Steve McNair continues to improve his numbers. McNair is now ranked 7th in the AFC. Running back Eddie George is ranked 9th, and wide receiver Derrick Mason is 8th in kick returns and 14th in punt returns. Defensive end Jevon Kearse is ranked 4th in the AFC in sacks.
