Fisher: Titans Won't Quit
By Dustin Murray December 10, 2001
Head Coach Jeff Fisher wasn't happy with his teams performance Sunday against the Vikings and he talked about it at his press conference Monday afternoon.
The Titans trailed by four at the half and looked good, especially in the first quarter. The second half, however, was a different story.
'We went into the locker room down by four and then four plays later we were down by 18,' Head Coach Jeff Fisher said at his Monday Press Conference. 'We couldn't afford to turn the ball over to them and we did twice in the second half.'
Defensively the Titans knew that they would have to stop the passing game of the Vikings to win, but it was both the pass and run that beat them Sunday.
'We wanted to force them to run and pressure them occasionally,' Fisher said. 'We didn't stop the run, we didn't stop the pass, we didn't stop the one on ones, and we didn't tackle very well.
'The difference in the ballgame was in the second and third quarters where we were outscored 28-zero.
The Titans will approach the rest of the season trying to improve. A big step this week can come against the red hot Green Bay Packers.
'This football team's goal from this point on is to improve, continue to improve, and win games,' Fisher said. 'We're not mathmatically out of the playoffs, but the possibilities are remote. Our goal is approach our job from a professional standpoint, do the best we can, and get better.'
'We don't anticipate any sympathy out of the Green Bay Packers, we're going to get them at their best. They're in a playoff race and we're going to be tested.'
