Jaguars Still Searching For A Coach:
Two and a half weeks after Jaguars head coach Tom Coughlin was fired, Jacksonville has still not found a new head coach.
The most recent candidate for the job reportedly is Steelers offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey. 49ers head coach Steve Mariucci had also been reported to be an option for the job, but Mariucci is meeting Tuesday with 49ers ownership to discuss his future in San Fransisco.
Although Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver has not specifically said that he will be interviewing Mularkey, he did say he is ''contemplating talking to a couple of coordinators,'' according to the Florida Times Union.
Mularkey was scheduled to meet with the Bengals late Monday night about their vacant head coach position, although Redskins defensive coordinator Marvin Lewis is said to be the front-runner for that job.
Mularkey is also a native of Ft. Lauderdale, and spent his college years at the University of Florida.
Mularkey is the fourth confirmed candidate for the job behind former Vikings coach Dennis Green, current Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops, and Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz.
Colts To Pay James For Off-Season Incentives
After a disapointing year for Colts running back Edgerrin James, the Colts will reportedly pay their star running back for incentives he failed to meet during the season.
Although James did meet the requirements for an incentive based on receptions for the year, he failed to reach requirements which would have paid him another $2.375 million.
The Colts will now restructure James' contract in order to allow him to earn an extra $1.3 million by meeting unspecified off-season requirements, possibly including James to spend more time in Indianapolis during the off-season.
''I'll probably come up for some of the summer school,'' James told the Indianapolis Star. ''Mostly likely some of it.''
James normally spends most of his off-season in Florida in order to be close to his two daughters.
''That's why I got to work,'' James told the Star. ''Family is big with me.''
Texans Could Trade Number Three Draft Pick
According to the Houston Chronicle, Texans General Manager Charlie Casserly has had talks with ''more than one team'' about trading for the Texans number three overall draft pick.
''We've already talked to some teams about trading the pick,'' Casserly told the Chronicle. ''We've definitely gotten interest.''
Many teams could be looking to move up in the draft because of the large number of good quarterbacks available.
The Texans biggest needs are at wide receiver, running back, offensive tackle, safety and defensive tackle. They have 14 draft selections, which include additional picks that begin in the third round.
The Houston coaching staff will get an up-close look at the top draft prospects as they coach the North squad in this week's Senior Bowl.
