Kicker Joe Nedney's post-game comments Saturday night about possibly looking into a career in acting after football started a media frenzy across the nation.
Monday after the team's light practice, Nedney apologized for what he said was just meant as a joke.
''I'm sure that the comment I made afterwards left a bad taste in everybody's mouth and I sincerely apologize for doing that, but it was only meant as a joke'' Nedney said.
Nedney made the comment after getting a second chance to kick a game-winning field goal in overtime against the Steelers Saturday night.
''This is the playoffs, it's an unbelievable opportunity, crazy things things happen in the playoffs and this is just another chapter in the book of the playoffs,'' Nedney said. ''I'll just know next time to be serious when someone asks me a question instead of trying to be funny.''
''It was funny, but it was just bad timing,'' Nedney said.
Nedney was a guest on the nationally syndicated ''Dan Patrick Show'' Monday and said that Patrick confronted him about the comments.
''He came right out and Dan said 'It was wrong, I don't think you should have said those comments' and he was right. For the integrity of the game I probably shouldn't have said that,'' Nedney said.
''I don't know if you want to call it a momentary lapse of reason or temporary insanity, I spit it out and there's nothing I can do about it,'' Nedney said.
Nedney said he is ready to put the comments behind him and get ready for the AFC Championship game Sunday at Oakland.
''The great thing about this game is that we have a game next weekend so tomorrow we're focusing on Oakland,'' Nedney said. ''Tomorrow I get to go out, kick my field goals, practice and get ready to go play the Raiders.''
