It's generally good news when the head coach starts an injury report with the phrase: 'It's not as bad as we thought.'
That's what Jeff Fisher said on Sunday afternoon about the Titans injury status.
Defensive back Andre Dyson's shoulder injury will apparently not require arthroscopic surgery. Fisher said that there is nothing structurally wrong with Dyson's shoulder and he will have a chance to play in the AFC Championship game.
Tests on quarterback Steve McNair's injured thumb came back showing no structural damage. McNair is sore from Saturday's win over Pittsburgh, but otherwise shows no ill effects from the game.
Guard Zach Piller's re-injured his calf in Saturday's game, leaving in the first half and not returning, but his post-game soreness was apparently not severe. Fisher says that the Titans will not yet rule Piller out for Sunday's game.
Backup linebacker Rocky Boiman's knee injury is called a 'slight strain'.
Running back Eddie George is bouncing back well from a third-quarter concussion. Fisher said that George could have actually returned for Saturday's game, but was held as a precaution.
Fisher also added that defensive end Jevon Kearse would have another MRI and Cat-scan on his surgically-repaired foot.
These tests are to be done as a precaution.
Wide receiver Eddie Berlin was removed from his kickoff return duties in the second half due to a hip pointer that was causing him to be fatigued.
