Titans Defensive End Jevon Kearse took a precautionary measure when some mild pain filtered through his ankle against the Texans on Sunday.
''He was stepped on, it was twisted, and he came off the field and was not comfortable,'' Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher said.
The pain raised such a concern for Kearse that he decided to have his ankle examined a bit further than just walking on it along the sideline.
''He requested an X-ray and we did it immediately and there was no damage and he is better today,'' Fisher said.
The televised coverage on CBS showed Kearse examining his own X-ray with teammates and trainers at one point.
Fisher jokingly said that Kearse could read an X-ray as well as anyone due to how many of them he has undergone since the season opener against the Eagles.
''The pain was subsiding and there was a possibility that he was going back in the ballgame. He just wanted to be sure,'' Fisher said.
Fisher said the Titans staff has eased Kearse back onto the field to make sure he isn't pressed too hard too fast.
With Kearse having some pain during the game and no damage to contend with, Fisher says that Sunday's game was a beneficial experience for Kearse.
''I think he now knows that he can push it beyond the limits of what he's been pushing it the last couple of weeks. I think this is a positive thing for him mentally because he was sore.''
