Del Rio Says Leftwich Remains Questionable
By Martha Montiel December 28, 2005

Jaguars Head Coach Jack Del Rio said starting quarterback Byron Leftwich remains questionable for this week’s game against Titans.

“It’s going to be something we are just going to monitor how practice goes this for Byron [Leftwich],” Del Rio said. “It’s his first time back on the practice field today.”

During Leftwich's absence with an ankle injury the last five weeks, backup quarterback David Garrard, the Jaguars' fourth round pick in 2002, has completed 88 of 152 passes for 989 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. He has compiled a record of 4-1.

Leftwich, who has career highs of 15 touchdowns and an 89.3 passer rating in 2005, has said he would like to get back before the Jaguars hit the road in week one of the playoffs. Jacksonville stands as the number one wild card.

''Ideally we would like to be able to play him [Leftwich], he is our starting quarterback and we’d like to have him back and healthy for the playoffs but until I see him move around it’s hard for me to determine where he is,” Del Rio said.
