Here's how the Titans compare to the rest of the NFL heading into week 15.
Kick returner/cornerback Pacman Jones sits atop the NFL in punt return average. Jones ran back his first touchdown of the season when he scored on a 52-yard punt return in Sunday’s 13-10 win over the Houston Texans. Pacman also remains fifth in the league in kick return average with 26.5 yards per return.
Titans defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch moves to second in the NFL with 12.5 sacks. Vanden Bosch recorded two sacks in Sunday’s win. The two sacks made up for the two the first-year Titan had taken away in the Colts game because of penalties.
With 111 tackles, linebacker Keith Bulluck ranks ninth in the NFL for total tackles. Bulluck recorded four tackles to go along with two sacks against the Texans.
Quarterback Steve McNair ranks in at 13th in the league with 2,817 passing yards. McNair has also thrown 14 touchdown passes moving him into a tie for 17th in the NFL. McNair’s passer rating of 83.6 ranks him 16th in the league. The veteran quarterback came out of Sunday’s game completing 18 of 30 passes for 208 yards.
Titans running back Chris Brown rushed into 19th spot in the league for rushing yards with 777 on the season. Brown averages 3.9 yards per carry and his long stands at 38 yards. Brown also comes in at 22nd in the league for rushing touchdowns with five. In Sunday’s win over the Texans, Brown carried the load 16 times for 53 yards. Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher said that there’s a good chance Brown will obtain 1,000 yards for the season. With three games left, Brown needs 223 yards to get the 1,000 yard mark.
Kicker Rob Bironas, hitting on 21 of 27 of his field goals, kicked his way into the eighth spot in the NFL for total field goals made. Bironas hit two-for-three on field goals and converted an extra point in Sunday’s win. Bironas’ longest field goal remains at 53 yards for the season.
Titans punter Craig Hentrich falls into the 18th spot in the NFL in punting average with 42.9 yards per kick. Hentrich kicked a long of 59 yards against the Texans and has put the ball inside the 20 yard line 16 times this season.
The Titans also rank 13th in the NFL for total defense. The youngest team in the league gives up an average of 307.2 yards per game.
The Titans look to improve their stats and better their record when they play host to the Seattle Seahawks Sunday at the Coliseum.
