A judge granted the district attorney's office a continuance Thursday in the case between Pacman Jones and Robert Gaddy.
Judge Bill Higgins rescheduled the hearing for March 6 after Laurie Hulin of the DA's office objected to a motion by Jones' attorney to dismiss the case.
''We would like a second chance to get Gaddy to court,'' Hulin said after Gaddy did not appear for the hearing.
Gaddy told the Tennessean he had no interest in pursuing the case any further. He and Jones came to agreement on the matter earlier this week.
''I wish I would have had my phone with me this morning because when they contacted me I could have let them know to go ahead and drop the case,'' Gaddy told the Tennessean. ''Me and Pac have talked and I think he understands why I did what I did. I am satisfied with the way everything has come out.''
Jones' attorney said such a continuance is common when one of the parties in a case does not appear in court.
