Houston Texans Head Coach Dom Capers said his team has improved since they last faced the Titans, and they are ready for Sunday’s game in Nashville.
Although for the second straight week the Texans let a late fourth quarter lead slip away last Sunday at Baltimore, Capers said they continue to get better.
''The last couple of weeks have been very frustrating because we have been in position to win both games but we just weren’t able to finish it off,'' Capers said. ''We have gone out and really played our best two football games and we’ve played hard. I think we have improved and we have gone from early in the season where we weren’t as competitive to where we have been extremely competitive and had opportunity to win games.''
''We got to have a great week of preparation and get ready to go to Tennessee and hopefully play our best football game up there,'' Capers said.
Much of the Texans improvement is credited to wide receiver Andre Johnson. Johnson, a pro bowl selection in only his second season and one of the league’s best receivers, is now healthy.
In the teams last meeting Johnson started at wide receiver but left the game early in the first quarter with a strained calf muscle.
''It has helped out a lot to have Andre [Johnson] back,’’ Capers said.
Two weeks ago against the St. Louis Rams Johnson had over 150 yards receiving with 12 catches.
